Luxury outerwear brand Canada Goose is bringing its “legacy in exploration” to the open ocean, outfitting Scottish actor Ewan McGregror on an unsupported transatlantic sailing expedition for a documentary series called ‘True Wind’.
McGregor’s childhood friend, Eric Strickland, is his expedition sidekick, and the series is being directed by David Alexian, with Canada Goose as the Official Protective Gear Partner.
Working alongside them, the brand has created an “integrated protective gear system” curated to perform in whatever conditions the Atlantic brings across thousands of miles at sea.
At the heart of the voyage is Canada Goose’s high performance ‘Sea Mantra’ parka, specifically developed for extreme wet weather environments and harsh seas.
McGregor and Strickland departed Oban, Scotland, at the end of August and are set to arrive in Brazil later this autumn. ‘True Wind’, produced in partnership with Elixir Films and Lief Entertainment Company, is documenting their journey.

I’ve never been far offshore before, and my friends and I will have to be self sufficient and ready to cope with whatever the weather, the sea and the boat throw our way.

The partnership marks the first chapter of a broader story, with more from the expedition to be revealed in the months ahead. Further details, including product and programming, will be “announced in due course”.
