Fashionphile resale report finds Y2K revivals driving luxury bag prices higher

Archive handbag revivals are driving up resale prices on Fashionphile, with the Saint Laurent Mombasa’s average sale price (ASP) rising 291% and the Fendi Spy’s average resale value increasing 127%, according to Fashionphile’s 2026 Ultra-Luxury Resale Report.

The figures compare activity on the luxury resale platform between January and July 2026 with the same period in 2025.

Archive styles see renewed demand

The Saint Laurent Mombasa, Tom Ford’s horn-handled 2001 design, also tripled in units sold. Fashionphile attributed renewed interest to Anthony Vaccarello’s recent runway homage. Searches for the Fendi Spy rose 104.39%.

The Fendi Baguette recorded a 157% rise in searches and a 9.86% increase in ASP. Searches for the Gucci Horsebit Clutch rose 95%, with ASP up 8.42%. Interest in the Chanel Cambon increased 148%, while its ASP rose 5%.

Searches for the Bottega Veneta Veneta Hobo rose 146% following its re-release in February. Searches for vintage items overall increased 112%.

The report also highlighted renewed interest in other early-2000s designs. Searches for Monogram denim rose 1,026%, while the Chloé Paddington recorded a 610% increase and Galliano’s Dior rose 123%.

Core luxury styles also increased in value, with the Chanel Double Flap’s second-hand value rising 8.89% and the Hermès Kelly’s increasing 7.67%. The Hermès Birkin and Cartier LOVE each recorded a 6.14% rise.

Louis Vuitton leads sales as Chanel tops searches

Louis Vuitton remained Fashionphile’s most-shopped and most-sold brand, with its Speedy bag topping the platform’s most-shopped ranking for a second consecutive year. The Chanel Double Flap retained second place, while the Prada Re-Edition 2005 rose from eighth to third. The Goyard Saint Louis entered the top 10 in seventh place, replacing the Celine Ava.

Chanel was Fashionphile’s most-searched brand, which the report attributed to Matthieu Blazy’s debut collection. Fashionphile also reported paying sellers above retail for selected pieces. It procured the Urban Essential at 15% above retail, the Souplissimo and Archetype Tote at 13% above, and the Preppy Coco at 1% above. These figures refer to payments to sellers rather than average sale prices.

Demand broadens beyond archive handbags

Searches for men’s bags increased 166%. Smaller silhouettes also attracted interest: searches for “micro”, “mini” and “small” rose 103%, 133% and 194%, respectively, while the Hermès Neo Garden Party recorded a 344% increase.

Beyond handbags, searches for ballet flats rose 751%, while searches for thong sandals increased 487% and those for “silk scarf” climbed 369%.

The Hermès Oran sandal led the report’s footwear ranking, ahead of Gucci Ace sneakers and Louis Vuitton Star Trail ankle boots. In watches, the Hermès Clipper ranked first, followed by the Cartier Panthère and Gucci Interchangeable Bezel.

Jewellery searches also rose, with interest in unbranded jewellery up 233% and tennis jewellery up 104%.

The report comes as Fashionphile expands its presence in the UK. The company acquired Luxe Collective in October 2025 and opened its first UK physical space, a pop-up in London’s Vauxhall, in August 2026.

Separate reports provide context on UK second-hand shopping habits. Vinted’s 2025 Impact Report found that 35% of surveyed UK buyers consider an item’s potential resale value before buying new. Meanwhile, eBay’s latest Recommerce Report found that 46% of UK respondents buy second-hand at least once a month.
