Leeds-based menswear company Baird Group, the owner of value tailoring retailer Suit Direct, has promoted Chief Financial Officer Tim Murphy to the role of Chief Executive Officer, following the departure of Koray Gül after two and a half years.
Murphy has held the position of CFO at Baird Group since July 2025. Prior to that, he was CFO at 360Globalnet for one and a half years. He was also CFO at Penfield and Duchamp owner Brand Machine Group from March 2021 to November 2022.
Murphy’s appointment comes hot on the heels of Suit Direct opening its fourth new store this year at the Liberty Shopping Centre in Romford, which came soon after the May opening of a new store at London’s O2 outlet shopping destination, which introduced a “premium new shopfit”.
Commenting on LinkedIn recently regarding the new Romford store opening, Amanda Argent, Retail Director at Baird Group, said:
“As Retail Director, it’s hugely rewarding to see our vision continue to come to life. While retail continues to evolve, we remain firmly focused on the value of great stores, great locations, and most importantly, great customer experiences.
“Our new Romford store has been thoughtfully designed around the customer journey. The layout helps customers navigate the space effortlessly, with carefully considered pause points and a focus on the key moments that matter most.
“What makes Suit Direct special is the role we play in some of life’s most important moments. We help customers prepare for their first job interview, celebrate weddings, attend proms, enjoy a day at the races, and countless other occasions where looking and feeling their best matters.
“Alongside our extensive tailoring and occasionwear offer, we’re also delighted to showcase our exclusive Ted Baker smart casual collection, giving customers access to a complete wardrobe solution under one roof.”
With over 30 stores across UK high streets and outlet centres, plus a website that ships worldwide, Suit Direct is home to leading suiting and casualwear brands, including Ted Baker, Marc Darcy, Limehaus, Alexandre of England, and Racing Green.
