Uniqlo signs for 8,000 sq ft Bath store as South West expansion continues

It’s been a very busy week for Uniqlo, with the Japanese retailer signing a lease for an approximately 8,000 sq ft store at British Land’s SouthGate shopping centre in Bath, marking its second location in south-west England.

The news follows Uniqlo opening its first Cambridge store earlier this week, which occupies a 9,472 sq ft space across two floors at Grand Arcade.

Now Uniqlo has shared that it plans to open another two-floor shop in spring next year in Bath’s St Lawrence Street.

“Bath is an exciting next step in our continued growth across the UK, and SouthGate is a natural home for Uniqlo in the city. We look forward to bringing our LifeWear to the local community when we open next spring,” said Alessandro Dudech, Chief Operating Officer of Uniqlo UK.

The signing adds another international retailer to SouthGate’s tenant mix, which includes M&S, Zara, Urban Outfitters and Tommy Hilfiger.

Nobody’s Child recently opened its 11th standalone boutique at the centre, taking 1,500 sq ft. Space NK and Korean beauty retailer PureSeoul have also joined the line-up.

Kate Lea, Head of Shopping Centre Leasing at British Land, said Uniqlo was a “fantastic addition” and reflected the landlord’s focus on attracting brands based around quality, design and innovation.

She added that the recent arrivals demonstrated “the strength of occupier demand for the city and the momentum behind our leasing strategy”.

Uniqlo expands beyond London

Bath follows Uniqlo’s South West debut at Bristol’s Cabot Circus in April 2026. The retailer also opened its first Cambridge store on 24 September, occupying 9,472 sq ft across two floors at Grand Arcade.

A 24,000 sq ft Trafford Centre store is scheduled to open on 15 October, becoming Uniqlo’s second Manchester location. Further openings are planned for Canary Wharf, Leeds and Brighton’s Churchill Square during 2027.

This week also saw UNIQLO and global brand ambassador Roger Federer hosting a coaching event for 20 young British tennis players at London’s The O2 Arena, as part of the retailer’s Next Generation Development Program.
