Very delivers record earnings despite drop in fashion and sports sales

The Very Group has reported record adjusted earnings for the year ended 27 June 2026, despite a decline in fashion sales.

Adjusted EBITDA before securitisation interest rose 3.4% to £317.5 million, up from £307.1 million in FY25, while the group’s margin reached a record 15.2%.

Group revenue remained broadly stable at £2.09 billion, while revenue from its Very UK business increased 1.3% to £1.86 billion. Very Finance revenue rose 7.1% to £464.5 million, supporting earnings alongside higher-margin retail sales and effective cost management.

Combined fashion and sports sales declined 4.6% amid a “challenging” market. However, the return of Nike in spring 2026 is expected to provide further growth opportunities for the category in the current financial year.

Elsewhere, home sales increased 6.4%, driven by home accessories, which rose 21.5%, and bedroom furniture, up 6.6%. Toys and beauty sales grew 3.2%, including a 17% rise in boys’ toys and 4.8% growth in fragrance. Electricals sales declined 0.4%.

During the year, Very added more than 80 brands, including Estée Lauder, Salomon and Dusk, and relaunched its own-brand offer under The Very Collection, bringing together 23,000 options across fashion and home.

Customer satisfaction also improved, with the group’s Net Promoter Score (NPS), a measure of customer loyalty and satisfaction, rising 1.6 points year-on-year to a record 43.9. The retailer served 4.1 million active customers and delivered 41.1 million items during the period.

Robbie Feather, chief executive of The Very Group, said the business had delivered “the best earnings performance in the group’s history”. Meanwhile, group debt fell by £150 million.

The group also continued its technology transformation, migrating more than 95% of customer traffic to its cloud-based Skyscape platform by year-end, with the full migration completed shortly afterwards.

The Very Group, which also operates Littlewoods, is owned by US private equity firm Carlyle, which took control in November 2025. A proposed sale reportedly seeking around £2 billion was abandoned in September after potential bidders failed to meet the asking price.
