Charles Tyrwhitt celebrates 40th with star-studded video and new Oxford Street store

Charles Tyrwhitt has released a star-studded short film in celebration of its 40th anniversary year, ahead of the opening of a new flagship store on London’s Oxford Street in October.

The ’40 Years in the Making’ anniversary film blends British humour, nostalgia and personal anecdotes, featuring Charles Tyrwhitt founder Nick Wheeler alongside the likes of Richard E. The film brings Wheeler’s 40-year journey to life, from starting out in 1986 with a mail-order shirt business to opening the first Charles Tyrwhitt store at 100 Jermyn Street in London in 1997, and then building a global menswear brand with 104 stores worldwide.

Wheeler said: “If you’d told baby Nick in 1986 that his shirt business would still be going strong 40 years later, he would have been properly chuffed. I simply wanted to make a proper shirt that didn’t cost the earth, and here we are four decades later celebrating with the people who have been part of that journey.

“We wouldn’t have lasted even one day without our customers, so this milestone belongs to them as much as it does to us.”

Throughout the rest of 2026, Charles Tyrwhitt customers can expect exclusive events, new campaigns, limited-edition shopping bags, VIP store experiences, competitions and exclusive anniversary offers, with more surprises to be revealed throughout the season.

There will also be a VIP opening celebration for Charles Tyrwhitt’s new Oxford Street store on 16 October, “marking an exciting new chapter for the brand in one of the world’s most iconic retail destinations”.
