Fabletics to launch in India, as Lululemon and SKIMS prepare to follow

US activewear brand Fabletics will launch in India with a dedicated website and its first mono-brand store in New Delhi, with a Mumbai location to follow shortly afterwards.

Reliance Brands Limited (RBL) will build and operate the business under an exclusive long-term partnership, with its remit covering the omnichannel launch, including both standalone stores and e-commerce, as well as retail concepts adapted for Indian consumers.

The initial assortment will include women’s and men’s activewear for training, running, yoga, Pilates and everyday movement. Products will combine Fabletics’ proprietary performance fabrics with fashion-led colours and silhouettes designed to move between exercise and daily wear.

Meera Bhatia, President of Fabletics, said: “India represents an important next step in Fabletics’ international growth.”

She said RBL’s market knowledge and experience developing international brands made it the appropriate partner for the company’s long-term plans.

Fabletics builds its international footprint

Founded in Los Angeles in 2013, Fabletics has expanded from a digital-first business into an omnichannel activewear company with more than 135 stores globally.

Collaborations have helped it extend beyond conventional gymwear. Its recent launches include a 27-piece collection with Keke Palmer, combining activewear with tailoring and lifestyle products, and a golfwear capsule with Stephen and Erica Malbon.

Sumeet Yadav, Head of Reliance Brands Limited, said: “India is undergoing an incredible transformation, driven by young consumers embracing movement, mindfulness and athleisure as essential to their everyday lives.

“As we looked to expand our activewear portfolio, Fabletics stood out for its distinctive approach to making fashion-forward design accessible and built for everyday wear, making it a natural fit for the evolving Indian market.”

International brands target India

Fabletics will face another new entrant at New Delhi’s DLF Promenade, where its first store is based. Canadian performance wear company Lululemon plans to open its first Indian store at the New Delhi shopping centre in autumn 2026 through a franchise partnership with Tata Cliq.

Lululemon will also sell through Tata Cliq Luxury and Tata Cliq Fashion, using a similar combination of physical and digital distribution. The expected assortment spans athleisurewear alongside clothing for yoga, Pilates, running, training, tennis and golf.

RBL is also preparing to introduce SKIMS to India, with stores planned for Delhi and Mumbai. The shapewear and apparel company is expanding its international retail footprint after opening flagships in Dubai and London during 2026.

The Indian retail group previously signed a master franchise agreement with Italian womenswear brand MAX&Co, while Frasers Group has identified India as an expansion market for Sports Direct.

As of October 2025, RBL operated more than 1,590 standalone stores and shop-in-shops across India. Its existing portfolio includes Burberry, Coach, Diesel, Michael Kors, Superdry and Versace.
