Gordon Brothers has appointed Lloyd Baker Leather Ltd as a licensing partner for Radley, as the brand looks to expand its handbags and small leather goods business across the UK, Europe, US and Australia.
Under the agreement, Lloyd Baker Leather will develop, source, market and distribute Radley’s handbags and small leather goods across the four markets.
The partnership follows Gordon Brothers’ acquisition of the British handbag and accessories brand out of administration earlier this year. The transaction did not include Radley’s 21 UK stores and resulted in 42 redundancies.
Gordon Brothers said it is also evaluating opportunities to expand Radley into additional product categories as part of its plans for the brand.
Carolyn D’Angelo, Senior Managing Director and Head of Brand Operations at Gordon Brothers, said: “Radley is a beloved British brand, and we are thrilled to work with Lloyd Baker Leather Ltd. This agreement honours Radley’s legacy while supporting its continued evolution and expanding the brand’s reach by building upon Radley’s rich design tradition, including recent updates to the brand’s overarching aesthetic.”
Bobby Malhotra, Managing Director and Owner at Lloyd Baker Leather Ltd, added: “By combining Radley’s distinctive design heritage with our category expertise and established capabilities, we are looking forward to supporting the brand’s continued growth across key markets with continuity for retailers and consumers.”
The partnership comes as Gordon Brothers continues to pursue an asset-light strategy for Radley, with the focus on licensing, wholesale and retail partnerships, product development and international expansion.
Gordon Brothers acquired Radley’s brand and related intellectual property in May after administrators were appointed following a period of challenging trading conditions. At the time, the company said it planned to expand the brand internationally and explore new categories including watches, jewellery, eyewear and beauty gifting.
Founded at Camden Market in 1998, Radley built its reputation through handbags and accessories. Its latest financials, covering the year to April 2025, showed growth in direct-to-consumer, digital and licensing sales, although wholesale performance was affected by technology issues and changes in the way some partners operated.
Lloyd Baker Leather was founded in 1991 and specialises in leather handbags, accessories and footwear, with products sold internationally.
